This project is proposed in collaboration with the BBMP. The existing M.G. Park in the heart of the city was in need of an upgrade. The design proposal implements ‘Christopher Alexander’s theory of semi-lattice structure’ to visually integrate the park with the adjoining urban systems. In the current context, the park is visually isolated. The ‘TONIQUE’ store, which is diametrically opposed to the park, both in location and in principle, has become an unofficial landmark. To counteract this, the objective was to minimize the dominance of the store by establishing a visual connection between the park and the urban surroundings. This visual connection suppresses the dominance of the store and creates a new connection with the heritage landmark of the city.
